Latham & Watkins LLP advised A123 Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: AONE), a Massachusetts-based developer and manufacturer of advanced lithium ion batteries and battery systems, in side-by-side public offerings of common stock and convertible subordinated notes. The offerings, which generated net proceeds of approximately $254 million, closed on April 12, 2011. The Latham & Watkins Boston corporate team was led by John Chory, Susan Mazur and Peter Handrinos, with assistance from Roderick Branch, Christopher Cronin and Leakhena Mom.
