Lawyers in the Madrid and Barcelona offices of Latham & Watkins provide pro bono legal advice to various non-profit organizations and foundations in Spain, and share with the other Latham offices this commitment. The office is also a proud supporter of the IE University's Scholarship for Entrepreneurial Lawyering, which directs an annual scholarship to students accepted into IE University’s Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program who demonstrate outstanding academic qualifications and entrepreneurial extra-curricular involvement.

In addition, each year the Madrid office’s Latham & Watkins Runners Club invites clients and friends of the firm to join them in the Carrera de la Ciencia, a 10-kilometer race that takes place in Madrid every fall to raise funds for Fundación Deporte y Desafío, a private, nonprofit organization whose primary objective is the social integration of physically, mentally, visually or hearing-challenged people through specially adapted sports and outdoor activities.

In 2012, Latham fielded the largest team that participated in the race, with 185 runners.

Survey of Pro Bono Practices and Opportunities

A multi-office team of nearly 100 Latham & Watkins lawyers and professional staff from across the firm’s offices globally conducted extensive research to prepare the 2012 edition of the “Survey of Pro Bono Practices and Opportunities” report. Conducted in conjunction with the Pro Bono Institute (PBI), the unique report is an essential resource for local practitioners, in-house teams and non-profits on pro bono practices around the world.
